Sewer system conception for the streetwise builder
The purpose of drainage pipes is to expel the discharge coming out from the home and direct it into the septic or sewer tanks. They are also used in the sewer system in our homes where they are used in between the inspection chambers. The system should be self cleaning and prevent blockage. Correct gradients are used for this purpose. UPVC tubing is mainly used in the system. It is important to adequately test the laid system before its commissioning. The testing should be performed in between the inspection chambers.
Drainage pipes must be placed in trenches. Trench depth has to be between 300 to 500 millimeters. Drainage lines running under a walkway, driveway or parking area are installed with a concrete casing. To begin laying the lines, first excavate the trenches to the necessary depths. Carry out grading towards the tanks or sewers to ensure water flow. Maintain a slope of one in four for the excavated channels. It should be ensured that the foot of each trench is packed close and rammed. To fix the levels in these bottoms, one can use pegs.
Drainage pipes should be laid in a straight line. The pipes are then linked to sockets inclining upward or to a building. The ground on which the systems lies should be even and solid. Male and female sockets should be used to join the pipes using a good adhesive. Make sure that you follow all the instructions for the adhesive, as specified by the manufacturer. At the joint of the pipe and inspection chamber, the pipe must be fixed properly upto the full wall thickness of the chamber. Pipes must be free of litter and internal obstructions.
The drainage pipes are carefully examined when laying. This is to guarantee that the pipes are not damaged at any points and do not have holes or cracks. Confirm the correct formation of the socket recesses in the foundation. However they should not be too long. The inlet and outlet of the inspection chamber must be even and ordered. After fixing all the joints properly, the system then needs to be wrapped up with soil. Connect to the sewer or septic tank. And the final step is to link the system to the utilities to finish the drainage system and commence the final test.
